Radboud Sustainable

When we constantly ask the world for more, it is our duty to leave that world better than we found it.

Talk the talk or walk the walk?

Radboud University contributes to a free and healthy world with equal opportunities for all. Sustainability is one of the themes within our strategy 'A Significant Impact', and sustainability plays an important role in education, research, and management.

Research with impact

As a university, we feel a responsibility for the world in which we live. We want to be in the vanguard when it comes to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and to make our own contribution to the changes needed in the world in the coming decades. Our broad range of academic disciplines and the opportunities for multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research at our campus offer excellent possibilities here.

Education for the future

We guide new generations in their growth to develop into conscientious, committed, critical and self-confident graduates who go on to take up responsible positions in society. All students encounter sustainability issues within their own discipline. Students who want more have access to a wide and multidisciplinary range of courses, also at other faculties.

Knowledge development with(in) our environment

Radboud University wants to make a significant impact on a regional and an international level. As a university, we are positioned at the heart of society. Our immediate environment – city, province and border region – is home to many companies, educational institutions and other institutions and organisations with whom we enter into or build on meaningful relationships. Together we work on the development and extraction of knowledge, and innovation, and actively seek out questions from our environment to which we can respond. We are open and transparent about this joint request. In this way we contribute to a sustainable and circular regional future.

Smart, sustainable campus

In our education, research and management we use modern tools, and create space to experiment. We use our green, ‘smart’ campus as a ‘living lab’: a stimulating place where we experiment and encourage innovation on sustainability.

Four guiding ambitions

We strive for a green, healthy and inclusive campus with a positive impact on climate and circularity. Inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals, we focus on four guiding ambitions for the period 2020-2025.
