New drugs for tropical infectious diseases

The ‘TropInhi’ project involves all aspects of medicinal chemistry, mainly organic synthesis at the chemistry department, but also chemical design, molecular modeling, biological assays and the assessment of structure-activity relationships in collaboration with the project partners, the RadboudUMC and the companies TropIQ and ProtInhi. Chemical starting points include heterocyclic compounds killing malaria parasites, and peptide-like protease inhibitors targeting the dengue and zika viruses.
