Techniques & Equipment
The Systems Chemistry department has access to a broad range of analysis equipment:
- Various spectroscopic analysis techniques (UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, circular dichroism spectroscopy and FTIR spectroscopy), as well as chromatographic analysis techniques (HPLC, GC) are available at the department itself.
- Nuclear Magnetic Resonance: Bruker 400 and 500 MHz NMR machines (both equipped with a sample changer) and a 400 MHz Varian are available for analyses.
- Extensive mass spectroscopy facilities allow us to use GC/MS, EI, CI (±, methane, ammonia optional), ESI ic with Ion trap or TOF, and MALDI as ionizing techniques for mass measurements. For detailed information see the mass spectrometry section.
- The General Instruments of the department can be contacted for use of electron microscopy (TEM, SEM), FPLC and fluorescence microscopy equipment.
- Besides the before mentioned facilities, the Centre for Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics (CMBI) provides databases and software packages for modelling and other biomolecular informatics
