CCS alumna appears on Dutch Radio

Date of news: 25 November 2020

Radboud FTR alumna and former CCS researcher, Dr. Ellen Boleij was recently invited to speak on the Dutch radio program Nieuws en Co.

Dr. Boleij has researched what it takes to foster a credible government using the work of Hannah Arendt as an example of ethical discernment in public administration. In case of Arendt, irreconcilable conflicts ultimately may lead the civil servant to hand back her assignment to her superior or the politically responsible person.

Nieuws en Co

Parliament wonders why their best efforts and intentions are so often stifled when it comes to the administration of rules and regulations. For example, consider the recent investigation into the Kinderopvangtoeslagregeling in Parliament (Tweede Kamer). The role of public administration and politically responsible persons is under scrutiny. In the Kinderopvangtoeslag procedures many parents suffer the consequences of being regarded as fraudulent by the public administration.
