Verantwoordelijkheden / takenomschrijving
Als RIS-coördinator zet je je in om internationale studenten de best mogelijke start in Nijmegen te geven. Samen met andere studentmedewerkers organiseer je in augustus en januari de Radboud Intro Weken. RIS richt zich in de Intro specifiek op internationale uitwisselings-, Pre Master en Master studenten.
Je werkzaamheden zijn zeer divers: van het geven van presentaties tijdens informatiebijeenkomsten, tot het boeken van bowlingbanen en horecalocaties. Daarnaast verricht je administratieve taken, zoals het bijhouden van de begroting en het samenstellen van de mentorgroepen in Excel/Tactile. Ook heb je veel contact met internationale studenten via mail of DM’s op Instagram en met de mentoren via mail en whatsapp.
Naast de organisatie van de Radboud Intro Weken, ondersteunt het RIS-team regelmatig bij andere activiteiten voor alle internationale studenten aan de Radboud Universiteit. Dit kunnen bijvoorbeeld de Week of the International Experience (inclusief de Global Night), workshops zoals Working in The Netherlands of de Farewell recepties zijn. Verder help je bij het maken van social media content, met name voor Instagram. Op ons RIS-account delen wij zoveel mogelijk over het Nijmeegse en Nederlandse studentenleven. Affiniteit met social media is daarom belangrijk, net als het leuk vinden om in reels en stories op te treden als vertegenwoordiger van RIS.

Het RIS-team werkt voornamelijk onder supervisie van de medewerker internationalisering van Student Life and International Mobility die verantwoordelijk is voor de RIS activiteiten, maar soms wordt er ook samengewerkt met andere SLIM collega’s.
*NB: het is niet mogelijk om voor deze baan te solliciteren als je een werkvergunnning nodig hebt om in Nederland te werken, daar het aantal uren dat deze baan inhoudt, hoger is dan het aantal uren dat je dan volgens de Nederlandse wetgeving mag werken.
Wat verwachten wij van jou
- Je bent enthousiast over het werken in een internationale sfeer;
- Je kunt goed coördineren, en hebt administratieve en management capaciteiten;
- Je neemt initiatief en kan goed zelfstandig, maar ook in teamverband werken;
- Je hebt een uitstekende kennis van de Engelse taal en kunt goed in het Nederlands communiceren, zowel mondeling als schriftelijk;
- Je voelt je comfortabel met het geven van presentaties;
- Je hebt ervaring met het maken van content voor social media, of minimaal een affiniteit daarmee;
- Een goede kennis van Word en Excel, bij voorkeur ervaring met het werken met Canva, Adobe Express, Indesign, Photoshop en andere online tools;
- Je houdt er van om in een klein team te werken, toont eigenaarschap en verantwoordelijkheid voor je werk;
- Je bent tijdens de zomermaanden, vanaf half juli en in augustus, bijna fulltime beschikbaar om te werken aan de voorbereidingen van de Radboud Intro. In januari ben je ook veel beschikbaar, maar wordt er bij de voorbereidingen van de Intro zoveel mogelijk rekening gehouden met het studie/examen schema.
- Je staat nog minimaal twee jaar ingeschreven als student aan de Radboud Universiteit.
Werkomgeving
SLIM heeft een informele werksfeer en een platte hiërarchie. In het team is het gezellig en werken we hard aan het organiseren van een leuke Radboud Introweek. We doen alles wat we kunnen om de internationale student een zo goed mogelijke start te geven voor hun tijd in Nijmegen. In de zomer maak je dus veel uren, maar laat je hierdoor niet weerhouden! We hebben een flexibel urensysteem en houden zo veel mogelijk rekening met tentamens en deadlines. Je werkt samen met studenten en met medewerkers van Student Life and International Mobility. Hier zijn collega’s bezig met het actief studentenleven, huisvesting, beurzen voor inkomende en uitgaande studenten, de Radboud Summer School en Social Work.
Overige informatie
- 0-uren contract;
- gedurende het jaar komt dat neer op zo’n 4-8 uur per week en in de juli / augustus en in de Intro weken is dat bijna fulltime. Tijdens de Radboud Intro Weken (3e of 4e week van augustus en laatste week van januari) moet je ook ’s avonds werken en kan het zijn dat je ook in het weekend moet werken.
- Er is plaats voor 2 nieuwe RIS coördinatoren.
Toelichting op de arbeidsvoorwaarden
Schaal 4.0: €18,04 bruto per uur (excl. compensatie voor vakantie- en feestdagen, vakantiegeld en eindejaarsuitkering).. De startdatum is zo snel als mogelijk. Plaatsing is voor een jaar, met mogelijke verlenging tot 2 jaar of langer.

Responsibilities / Job description:
As RIS coordinator
Being a RIS coordinator means you are committed to giving international students the best possible start in Nijmegen. Together with other student employees, you will organise Intro Weeks in August and January for international exchange and (Pre-)Master students.
The tasks involved are diverse, from giving presentations/ presenting pub quizzes, to booking the venues for the activities, to administrative work like making mentor groups, to managing the financial administration. You also have a lot of contact with international students and answer all their questions via email or Instagram DM and with their mentors via mail and whatsapp.
Besides the Intro Weeks, the team also gives assistance during activities organised for all international students like the Week of the International Experience (including the Global Night), Working in The Netherlands workshops or farewell receptions. On top of that, RIS offers a platform to international students through social media. On social media, mainly Instagram, we share everything that has to do with student life in Nijmegen and in the Netherlands in general. It is therefore important that you have an affinity with social media, enjoy creating content and other promotional material and you like standing in front of the camera as a representative of RIS.

During other SLIM activities
SLIM also organizes activities, like the Radboud Go Abroad Week or events for student organisations and their boards. Being part of the RIS team also means you will help at the other activities, when needed and create promotional material.
The coordinators will mainly work under supervision of the internationalisation officer of Student Life and International Mobility in charge of RIS activities, but will also be working with other SLIM colleagues.
*Please note that it is not possible to apply for this job if you need a working permit for the Netherlands, as the hours you will be working for SLIM exceed the number of hours you are allowed to work under Dutch law.
What we expect
- You are enthusiastic about working in an international atmosphere;
- You possess good coordination, administration and management skills;
- You take initiative, can work independently but also in a team;
- A hands-on mentality;
- You have an excellent knowledge of the English language, both orally and in writing and at least basic knowledge of the Dutch language;
- You are comfortable in giving presentations;
- Experience in making content for social media channels, or at least have an affinity with it;
- A good knowledge of Word and Excel, preferably experience with Canva, Indesign and Photoshop and online tools;
- You like to work in a small and close team, show ownership and take responsibility for your work;
- You are available during summer (nearly fulltime from half July and in August) in preparation of the Intro Week. And you can work as much as possible in January, although we will of course take exams and preparations for them into account.
- You will be a student of Radboud Univeristy for at least 2 more years.
Work environment
SLIM has an informal atmosphere and flat hierarchy. In the team we have a lot of fun together. In the weeks before and during every Intro Week we do everything we can do to give new international students the best start possible, so you will be working a lot. But don't be put off by the number of working hours, the team and working hours are flexible and exams or other commitments are always taken into account. You will work in a team with other students and also work with other colleagues of Student Life and International Mobility.
Other Information
- 0-hour contract;
- during the year it is about 4 - 8 hours a week and in the months July and August surrounding the Intro Week you will be working nearly fulltime. During the Intro Weeks you will also be expected to work during the evening and at the weekend.
- Vacancy for 2 students.
Notes about the conditions of employment
Scale 4.0: €18,04 (excl. holiday allowance, holiday money, public holidays and end-of-year bonus). The starting date is as soon as possible. The placement will last for a year, and may be extended to two years.
