Trajecta renewed

ANNOUNCEMENT

Recently, the old version of Trajecta closed with Volume 21 (2012). In September, the first issue of the new Trajecta appeared, which centred around the Second Vatican Council “from another’s perspective,” i.e. from perspectives other than those of the Council Fathers themselves; such as from, observers, auditors, women, representatives from other churches, and Jewish representatives, all from a Dutch/Belgian perspective.

Trajecta aims to be the forum for everyone interested in the history of religion in relation to culture and society in the Netherlands in the future. A broadened perspective: Trajecta started out as a magazine on Catholic life in the Low Countries, but from Volume 22 and onwards it will pay more attention to all secular and religious traditions that have played and still play a role in the history of the Netherlands. The magazine will also work toward internationalization; aside from English and Dutch articles there will be a number of contributions in other common languages (German, French). Trajecta no longer appears quarterly, but bi-annually instead; The number of pages will remain roughly the same. The layout is renewed, but will remain recognisable to those who were used to the old Trajecta.

There is also a new editorial staff for the purpose of these innovations; Andreas Beck (Leuven), Mirjam de Baar (Groningen), Charles Caspers (Nijmegen), Jan De Maeyer (Leuven), Martine de Reu (Gent), Wim François (Leuven), George Harinck (Amsterdam/Kampen), Brigitte Meijns (Leuven), Peter Nissen (Nijmegen), Bart Wallet (Amsterdam) and Lodewijk Winkeler (Nijmegen). Design and image editing will be coordinated by Luc Vints (KADOC). An international Board of Advisors of national and international renowned scholars is also available to advise the editorial staff. The magazine is supported by KADOC (Leuven), KDC (Nijmegen), and the HDC (VU Amsterdam).

The website, Trajecta Portal was also launched in September. It aims to be the centre for international contact between those who are interested in the history of religion and its interaction with culture and society in the Low Countries. Here, it will be possible to access all the magazine’s volumes online, it will contain sources and bibliographies, information on projects, exhibitions, and seminars. You will be able to discuss research with colleagues, present your own projects, and exchange experiences. You can access the latest literature as book reviews can henceforth be accessed via the portal as well. Patricia Quaghebeur (KADOC) is the contact person for matters concerning the Portal website.

In transitioning to the new Trajecta, the magazine’s publisher (Redactie Trajecta VZW) has decided to slightly change the prices of subscriptions. You can now chose either a complete subscription, which includes access to the entire Trajecta Portal (www.trajectaportal.eu) or a subscription which only gives you access to the Trajecta Portal. This last option means that the portal allows you access to each new issue immediately after appearance, but you will no longer receive a printed copy. These subscriptions are priced respectively € 40,00 and € 35,00 (without extra costs for foreign postage). (PHD) students, upon identification by means of a copy of their student card or a certificate from their supervisor, can get a 50% discount on either subscription.

We hope you enjoy the new version of Trajecta and the Trajecta Portal website.
