Tips and tricks for studying in the Law Library

Date of news: 27 August 2024

To get you started in the Law Library, we've put together 10 tips for you.

1. Workstations

In the Law Library you will find group workstations and individual workstations. Group workstations can be reserved by Law students at the service desk in the library. To make a reservation please show your proof of registration for Law in Osiris.

2. PCs & laptops

You can use computer workstations in the Law Library. With your own laptop or smartphone you can use wifi via Eduroam. The availability of available PCs can be seen on the screen opposite the service desk.

3. Opening hours

The opening hours of the library are:

  • Monday - Thursday: 8.30 - 22.00h
  • Friday: 8.30 - 18.00h

During exam periods there are modified opening hours. Please keep an eye on the screens in the library for these.

4. Finding literature

Start your search for academic literature in the Library Guide Law. You can also log into the search systems from home with your RU account. Under the heading Fast to you will find the most frequently used legal sources.

RUQuest is a handy search engine that allows you to search both digital and printed books and journals of Radboud University.

Tip: we have a lot of study literature as e-books! Check Mandatory Exam Literature E-books.

5. Borrowing

Your student card allows you to borrow books for free at the Law Library and all other library locations on campus. To do so, activate your card in RUQuest. In RUQuest you will find the placement code of a book under 'signature'.

You can borrow a book from the borrowing machine at the service desk. Magazines can not be borrowed; they are only available for consultation in the library. Across from the service desk you will find a selection of our newest acquisitions. You may borrow these immediately.

6. Printing, copying and scanning

You can print, copy and scan via Kuario. We recommend that you activate your account as soon as possible.

7. Service desk

At the service desk you can ask questions about the library facilities. You can also reserve group workstations here.

8. Need help?

The information desk of the Law Library is open every Monday and Wednesday from 12.30 - 14.30h. Here you can ask questions about searching, finding and using legal sources. Outside the information desk's opening hours, you can e-mail inforecht@ubn.ru.nl with your question.

9. (Social) media

Keep an eye on the screens in the faculty and especially the screen in the library across from the service desk. In addition, there are regular announcements on our UB Guide to Law. You will also find them in the faculty newsletter you receive in our Library guide Law.
