Freie Universität Berlin

The Freie Universität Berlin is one of the four major universities in Berlin. The Faculty of Law has more than 2,700 students, making it one of the largest law faculties in the country. The faculty is divided into three departments: Civil Law, Criminal Law, and Public Law. The focus of the law study is on the study of legal texts and students are challenged to place the texts in the context of practice. The campus of the Freie Universität is located in the southwest of Berlin in a green area with many parks.
Deadlines for nomination:
Apply for nomination to the International Office Law before 1 March in order to be included in the first nomination round of the next academic year.
(Nomination deadline at the partner: 1 May for semester 1, 1 November for semester 2)
Availability:
Each year, two students may go on exchange to the Freie Universität Berlin.
Date of first selection round: registration before March 1 at the International Law Office.
Course information:
Check the website for a list of courses. The list gives an indication of courses in German and English. Consult the International Office of the FU Berlin for the current offer.
Accommodation:
As an exchange student at the Freie Universität Berlin you can use the university's Accommodation Service. The accommodations are close to the university, but far from the city center. Of course, there is also the option to look for accommodation yourself.

Academic calendar:
First semester: beginning of October - end of March (Winter semester)
Second semester: beginning of April - end of August (Summer semester)
Before each semester, the faculty organizes Orientation Days.
Language requirements
You should have a demonstrable B-2 level German. Before the start of the lectures, all exchange students are required to take a German language test online to determine their level of German language proficiency. For more information about language requirements, visit the university website.
