Labour agreements

The terms and conditions of employment for most of the PhD students in the Netherlands  are regulated by one of the following collective labour agreement (in Dutch Collectieve Arbeidsovereenkomst or CAO):

  • PhD students at one of the 14 Dutch Universities are subjected to the CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten (CAO-NU). More information specific to the Radboud University you can find here.
  • PhD students at one of the 8 Dutch Medical Centres are subjected to the CAO UMC.
  • PhD students working for another research institute (e.g. Centrum voor Wiskunde en Informatica (CWI), Stichting Fundamenteel Onderzoek der Materie (FOM), De Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB), De Koninklijk Nederlands Instituut voor Zeeonderzoek (Kon. NIOZ) or Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO)) are subjected to CAO OI.
