- Peking University (PKU)does not accept Chinese nationals (including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau) from any of their partner institutions for exchange programs. Therefore applicants to be enrolled in university-wide semester/full-year student exchange programs should be NON-CHINESE.

Applicants should be above 18 of age and under 45.
- Students to graduate in the coming year are NOT recommended to apply, as Peking University is unable to release the official transcripts within one month and it will affect exchange students’ graduation in their home university.

English-taught graduate courses of special Master programs (MBA, Master in International Relations, Master in Public Policy, LLM in Chinese Law, Yenching Academy, etc.) are NOT open to exchange students.
There are only a few (less than 10) regular English-taught graduate courses open to exchange students, but PKU does not have a course list. Therefore, if a graduate student (Master/PhD) only wants to take English-taught graduate courses at PKU, they are not recommended to go to PKU, as they are unable to help him/her find enough courses. If the graduate students want to mainly study Chinese, they are welcome to PKU.

PKU is unable to guarantee exchange students get all the undergraduate courses they want to take. When one certain course is too popular (applications outnumbered the capacity), the PKU undergraduate course registration system will automatically draw lots, same with PKU local students.
- Chinese language courses at PKU are designed only for international visiting students (not to local students), therefore, such courses are not PKU undergraduate courses, they have class hours but no PKU credits.

Considering the expected increase of exchange students in Autumn 2021 and the limited dorms at Zhonguanyuan Global Village, PKU may not be able to guarantee the fee-paying accommodation of the nominated university-wide exchange students, they will see how many dorms they can get for exchange students in May.
