Telephone numbers
Dutch telephone numbers can be written as 024-3611111 (phoning from a Dutch telephone number) or +31-24-3611111 (phoning from an international number).
Telephone numbers are made up as follows: country code, city or mobile code, subscriber's number. The numbers +31-24-3611111 and +31-6-12345678, for example, are made up as follows:
- + means you first dial the international prefix: your country's number for international access, e.g. '00' (when phoning from a European, Asian or African number), '011' (when phoning from a North American number), etc.
- 31 is the country code for the Netherlands, like 1 for Canada or the US, 44 for the UK, 33 for Belgium etc.
- 024 is the area code for the Nijmegen; 06 is the code for all mobile telephone numbers (When the area code is preceded by the country code, the 0 is dropped.)
